On March 19 2009, Microsoft released IE 8. This release came during a tough period for Microsoft as it was fighting a major law suit by the EU against its Windows Operating System and at the same time, trying to maintain its role in the harsh browsers' fight against Mozilla FireFox, and Google Chrome.
